Weekly Schedule of Current Broadway Shows
While most of Broadway runs on a traditional Tuesday through Sunday schedule – with Sunday and Monday evenings off – a handful of productions diverge slightly and offer performances at non-traditional times. This affords potential theatregoers a number of options should they wish to take in a Broadway show on a night when much of the Great White Way is “dark.”
Additionally, some productions offer one or more 7 PM evening performances to allow an earlier night out for family audiences and other early birds.
Here is a rundown of the current Broadway offerings and their weekly show times. This information is accurate at press time and will be updated periodically as changes occur.
Shows with frequently-alternating or repertory schedules (such as In the Heights and Mamma Mia!) have been omitted from this page.
Information subject to change without notice at the discretion of each production.
Please check individual show listings or ticketing sites to confirm exact dates.

Lion King Roars in OCPAC, Costa Mesa CA

Center president Terry Dwyer was beaming as Segerstrom Hall filled with expectant adults and kids for Friday’s performance of Disney’s perennially popular show, which plays there through June 13.
It’s easy to understand his happiness. Like every temple of culture around the nation, OCPAC has seen its share of paltry ticket sales and empty seats over the last 18 months or so. Broadway seasons help performing arts centers power through such droughts, and shows like “The Lion King” are their crown jewels.
Happily, “The Lion King,” in addition to its undisputed status as one of musical theater’s monster money makers, is also grandly entertaining, and in a way that other warhorses such as “Miss Saigon” and “The Phantom of the Opera” aren’t. Those musicals are intended for adult audiences. “The Lion King” is family fare, though like so many Disney stories since “Bambi” it comes with a caveat: death in the family.

Disney’s Lion King set new box office records in Madison during each week of its four-week premiere engagement which concluded on Sunday, May 23. ‘The Lion King’ reigns over Madison
Long-running Broadway musical based on beloved Disney film heading to Overture Center, Madison WI.
Upon its release in 1994, “The Lion King” was an instant success, captivating audiences worldwide with its stirring story and award-winning music on the way to becoming the highest grossing traditionally animated film of all time — a title the film still holds. Three years later, “The Lion King” extended its kingdom to Broadway where it went on to win six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. More than 5,000 shows later (and counting), the eighth longest-running show in Broadway history will continue its reign in Madison, where the musical will rule the Overture Center for nearly a month starting from Tue Apr 27, 2010. Click here for the complete Lion King Tour Dates.
For those worried the Overture Center production won’t live up to such high expectations: Two words, “Hakuna Matata.” Although this is the first time “The Lion King” has come to Madison, audiences can rest assured the national tour not only stays true from city to city, but also matches up to the Broadway production.
“I’ve been on several national tours, and this production looks remarkably like its Broadway counterpart. Often, tours pall in resemblance to what’s showing on Broadway by the very nature of travelling. But they’ve figured out stuff for this show that I’m really proud of. It’s going into its eighth year and it still looks remarkably like the Broadway show,” said Klaisner, who has worked the past five “Lion King” national tours in addition to stints with popular musicals like “Show Boat,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Hair.”
Although the national tour looks the same onstage, it does have some differences behind the scenes from the Broadway production. The most noticeable change is the musical’s iconic Pride Rock, a colossal set piece with a life of its own.
“On Broadway and in the Las Vegas production, the rock is on an elevator and comes up through the stage floor. We obviously can’t do that as we go from venue to venue,” Klaisner said. “So what we have is a rock that is like a big wireless toy with a massive amount of computer technology that weighs about 5,000 pounds. It’s quite an incredible piece of work.”
“The Lion King” opens Tuesday, April 27 at the Overture Center and runs through Sunday, May 23. Buy Lion King Overture Center Madison Tickets now and save $20 on your next order over $250.
