Lion King on Broadway Welcomes Ntsepa Pitjeng-Molebatsi as Rafiki
Ntsepa Pitjeng-Molebatsi, who joined the ensemble of the Las Vegas production of The Lion King in 2010, steps into the leading role of Rafiki in the Broadway production at the Minskoff Theatre. Ntsepa Pitjeng-Molebatsi will take her first bow in the role of Rafiki on Dec. 10 at the Minskoff Theatre, for a limited engagement through summer 2025, with an exact end date to be announced. Pitjeng-Molebatsi takes over for Tshidi Manye, who, having exited the production in October, will step back into the role next summer. Manye is a longtime cast member, having played several long tenures as Rafiki since January 2004; she initially performed in the 2000 Toronto production.
The Main Stem cast also currently features Stephen Carlile as Scar, L. Steven Taylor as Mufasa, Cameron Pow as Zazu, Ben Jeffrey as Pumbaa, Fred Berman as Timon, Vincent Jamal Hooper as Simba, Pearl Khwezi as Nala, and James Brown-Orleans, Bonita J. Hamilton, and Robb Sapp as, respectively, the Bonzai, Shenzi, and Ed. Austin Elle Fisher and Annika Reese Franklin share the role of Young Nala, while Albert Rhodes and Jacob Pham alternate as Young Simba.
