Disney’s The Lion King Return to Orpheum Theater San Francisco November 1, 2012
Disney Theatrical Productions and SHN announced that tickets sale is on Friday, June 8 at 7AM. This is the long-awaited return engagement of Disney’s The Lion King. Lion King musical returns to San Francisco for the first time since its triumphant 43 week run at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in 2004. Lion King musical will return to Orpheum Theatre – San Francisco for an 11-week run from November 1, 2012 to January 13, 2013 playing through the Holiday season 2012-2013.

Based on the 1994 Disney animated film, this blockbuster opened on Broadway in October 1997 and is still playing. In its 15th year, The Lion King recently became the highest-grossing Broadway show in history. Since its Broadway premiere on November 13, 1997, 19 productions around the globe have been seen by more than 64 million people, grossed over $4.8 billion and, cumulatively, run a staggering 91 years. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (under the direction of Thomas Schumacher). Music is by Elton John, with lyrics by Tim Rice. The show won six Tonys, including best musical.

Lion King Tour Will Play at Sarofim Hall Hobby Center July 10 – August 12
The Disney sensation, Lion King will take stage at the Sarofim Hall Hobby Center this summer July 10, 2012. Lion King Musical national tour will make a stop at Houston, TX for a limited engagement of five weeks. The musical will perform at Sarofim Hall – Hobby Center from July 10 through August 12.

The North American touring production of “The Lion King” has been seen by more than 13.5 million theatergoers and grossed more than $875 million to date. The Lion King won six 1998 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical. For more than 15 years, The Lion King has continued as one of Broadway’s greatest legends, where it still plays at the Minskoff Theatre. It has currenly played over 5,300 performances, making it Broadway’s seventh-longest running musical.
