The production features Patrick R. Brown as “Scar”, L. Steven Taylor as “Mufasa”, Brown Lindiwe Mkhize as “Rafiki”, Andrew Gorell as “Zazu”, Ben Lipitz as “Pumbaa”, Nick Cordileone as “Timon”, Jelani Remy as “Simba”, Nia Holloway as “Nala”, Keith Bennett as “Banzai”, Rashada Dawan as “Shenzi” and Robbie Swift as “Ed.”
The role of “Young Simba” is alternated between Jordan A. Hall and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre and the role of “Young Nala” is alternated between Nya Cymone Carter and Tyrah Skye Odoms.
The Lion King is the story of Simba, a young lion prince who idolizes his kingly father, while youthfully shirking the responsibility his position in life requires. Brought to life by Tony-winning director Julie Taymor, the musical features a score by Elton John and Tim Rice, including their Oscar-winning songs “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “The Circle of Life.”

Oliver joins the Broadway company straight from the Madrid production of The Lion King, where he also played Zazu, making him the first Spanish musical theatre actor to perform the same leading role in both a Spanish and Broadway musical production. In celebration of Oliver’s bilingualism, for the first time in the history of the Broadway production, Spanish-language surprises will be incorporated into the show.

Lion King Broadway musical grossed $1,683,062 and had an attendance rate of 98.3%, about 1.7% less than that of the previous week. Lion King is in the 2nd position behind Wicked (Grossing $1,806,067). The Book of Mormon (Grossing $1,598,000) and Kinky Boots (Grossing $1,351,725) are next in the list.
