Lion King Still Tops Broadway Box Office for Week Ending 9/01/2013 with $1.82 Million
Lion King Broadway Musical still ahead of the list at the box office with grosses $1,818,423 and had an attendance rate of 99.3%, about 0.7% less than that of the previous week. The Book of Mormon roared to 2nd position leaving behind Wicked in the list with over 100% capacity. The 23 shows on the boards grossed $20,496,643, improving around 2.23% from the previous week’s totals.

The North American touring productions of The Lion King have been seen by more than 14 million theatergoers and grossed over $983 million to date. The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts, a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust theater, is a focal point of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District with 2,800 seats. The Lion King musical had previous runs in Pittsburgh in 2004 and 2008 and 2008 engagement was record-breaking in Pittsburgh.
