The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center<\/a> is celebrating its 10th anniversary season with a lineup that showcases some past successes, the touring industry\u2019s latest big-name shows and new community collaborations.<\/p>\n

The Lion King Musical will be part of the 2012-13 Fox Cities Performing Arts Center<\/a> lineup, is scheduled for April 9 to May 5, 2013 in Appleton WI<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to make sure that obviously we were reflecting on some great memorable moments that have really brought the performing arts center audiences together and built that loyalty that we\u2019re so lucky to have from our community,\u201d said Maria Van Laanen, the PAC\u2019s executive vice president. \u201cBut then also, we wanted to continue to challenge them and continue to excite them because the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center\u2019s audiences have been so supportive of seeing different types of art forms from different areas. That\u2019s what you\u2019ll see when you look at this 10th anniversary season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Disney\u2019s \u201cThe Lion King,\u201d which runs April 9 to May 5, 2013, played at the PAC in 2007. That was a \u201cpinnacle moment\u201d for the center, Van Laanen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the longest-running show we had brought to the community up to that point,\u201d she said. \u201cThis show, it changed the landscape on Broadway and I think it really was the sign that the Performing Arts Center<\/a> had truly arrived in the touring industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are one of very few cities that are presenting this on its first year of its national tour,\u201d Van Laanen said. \u201cLike \u2018The Lion King\u2019 did, this play caused such a ripple on Broadway because it is some of the most powerful storytelling that has been seen on Broadway in a very long time. And the way they tell this story, which takes place in World War I, through the eyes of the horse, is just magnificent. Because you\u2019re seeing it through Joey\u2019s eyes, you get a glimpse at all sides of the war.\u201d<\/p>\n
